WHAT'S UP WITH HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS?

We hear the phrase "HIGH TRAFFIC AREA" frequently when we are generally speaking abour flooring, so lets talk about why those areas are so important when choosing flooring.

Where are they?

Most ofton places such as hallways, kitchens, bath/restrooms, entry/exits, laundry and mudrooms fall into the category of high traffic areas.  With the type and amount of foot traffic these areas experience as well as other factors including the amount of exposure to dirt, grime, grease and moisture it only makes good sense to look closely at the flooring you choose to be certain it will perform well in these areas.


What are my options?

There are six common types of flooring that are used in both commercial and residental areas that we will compare in the table below.

PERFORMANCE RATING:  1 = POOR, 2 = OK, 3 = GOOD, 4 = BETTER, 5 = BEST

LIFE EXPECTANCY RATING:  1 = <4yrs, 2 = 4-6yrs, 3 = 6-8yrs, 4 = 8-10yrs, 5 = >10yrs
